In-depth, Evidence-based Assessments
Neuropsychology at NJNeuropsych
Your mind holds the guide to how you think, learn, and respond to the world. Sometimes that map gets a little hard to read. You might have noticed memory lapses or experienced brain fog, or trouble with numbers or letters. Maybe you have difficulty focusing at school, work, or in relationships. NJNeuropsych’s neuropsychology services can decipher what’s causing these and other challenges and help you navigate your way through them.

By studying how different parts of the brain work together, we can better understand strengths, challenges, and the best ways to support you or your child.
Our Services
Neuropsychological evaluations with Erin M. McDonough, Ph.D., are designed to help parents and children understand how their mind works and uncover the reasons behind academic struggles, emotional changes, or cognitive challenges that interfere with daily life. At NJNeuropsych, we offer a range of in-depth, evidence-based assessments that bring clarity and direction . . . no matter what stage of life you’re in.

Neuropsychological Evaluations

These comprehensive assessments explore how the brain functions across areas like attention, memory, processing speed, and executive skills. By identifying cognitive strengths and weaknesses, we help uncover the root of cognitive, behavioral, or emotional concerns and guide practical next steps for school, home, or work.

Psychoeducational Evaluations

From middle school through graduate school, these evaluations help students facing academic or learning challenges. Our educational evaluations pinpoint how cognitive and academic skills interact. Results provide insight into learning differences and inform individualized education plans (IEPs), accommodations for both the classroom and standardized testing, such as district assessments, SAT, ACT, MCAT, LSAT, and targeted interventions to support their overall success.

Psychological & Emotional Assessments

Neuropsychology helps us understand how different areas of the brain work together to support things like memory, attention, problem-solving, and emotional regulation, and why they become barriers to everyday functioning. These assessments can identify conditions such as anxiety, depression, or trauma responses and, more importantly, point the way toward meaningful growth and support.

Training

Dr. Erin McDonough provides dynamic, evidence-based professional development for school psychologists and special educators. Her psychological training focuses on learning disability identification, cognitive and academic assessment, and the effective use of modern testing tools. Dr. McDonough has presented to organizations such as the New York City Department of Education, the Learning Disabilities Association of America, and numerous local and regional school districts.
Neuropsychology: A Collaborative Approach
At NJNeuropsych, our approach is as compassionate as it is comprehensive. We know that data alone doesn’t change lives; understanding and the right support makes all the difference. That’s why we take time to explain each result in clear, practical terms and partner with you to create actionable next steps. Together, we’ll identify you or your child's strengths, address challenges, and design a plan that supports lasting growth and a clear path forward.
